Accoutrements
In my opinion, as well as that of renowned experts across the nation, Charles Stratton Brown makes the finest, most historically accurate functional frontier accoutrements in the world today – and for a reasonable price. As a primitive hunter and historian himself, Brown meticulously researches each product to ensure its historical accuracy and field tests the products himself. So whether you are looking for a museum quality display piece or a functioning piece of primitive equipment, Charles Brown can supply your needs.
Many artisans make similar claims, but none offer the same quality of Brown’s work, nor do any of them harvest and tan their own animal hides as he does.
All sewing on hunting bags or haversacks is done by hand with period correct thread or sinew, and all buttons or buckles are historically accurate or hand-forged.
Brown’s powder, rum and salt horns are truly pieces of art; all hand finished and scrimshawed to precise detail, yet they can withstand the rigors of the most primitive hunt or trek.
Brown’s knives – both folding and belt knives – are hand forged with period correct horn or wooden handles, and his rifle tools and fire starters are also hand forged to perfect historical accuracy.
And if you’d prefer to make your own leather goods, Brown also sometimes has bark and brain tanned animal hides for sale.
Some artists offer some of these services – but only Charles “Charlie” Brown can provide all of them – as well as top quality work that is reasonably priced.
